Axalko Biocomposites technology

Manufacturing precision, natural character

High-precision CNC milling, laser cutting and technical plant fibres are part of Axalko technology. Precision processes combine with the character of natural materials.

Wood and plant fibres. Multilayer construction.

Axalko frames combine wood and technical plant fibres in a hollow, multilayer structure that brings together stiffness and lightness.

We work with beech, birch, ash and walnut, combined with plant fibres such as flax. Small aluminium inserts in the head tube, bottom bracket and rear dropouts connect the frame to component standards.

A distinctive feel on the road and trail

The frame construction dissipates vibrations from the terrain. Think of the feel of a hammer with a wooden or fibre handle: the material changes how vibration reaches your hand.

The final ride feel also depends on tyres, their pressure, wheels and the complete build.

Wood and Flax: the 2027 evolution

Wood and Flax share a declared weight of 1,680 g in size M, a UDH hanger and biographene. Their finish sets them apart: wood for Wood and flax fibre for Flax.

Compared with Classic at 2,090 g, the new generation saves 410 g in size M, approximately 19.6 %.

Frequently asked questions

Which materials does Axalko use in bicycle production?

Axalko frames combine wood and technical plant fibres in a hollow, multilayer structure that brings together stiffness and lightness. We work with beech, birch, ash and walnut, combined with plant fibres such as flax. Small aluminium inserts in the head tube, bottom bracket and rear dropouts connect the frame to component standards.

What is a biocomposite, and how is it used in Axalko bicycles?

A biocomposite consists of natural fibres bound in a polymer matrix. Axalko uses advanced biocomposites for bicycle frames in place of conventional carbon fibre, creating durable and sustainable products.

How do Axalko biocomposite bicycles compare with carbon-fibre bicycles for performance?

Axalko’s multilayer construction combines stiffness, lightness and vibration dissipation. Ride feel also depends on tyres, their pressure, wheels and the complete build.

What sustainability benefits do Axalko bicycles offer?

Axalko bicycles use renewable, cultivated materials to reduce the carbon footprint. Manufacturing also uses local resources to minimise environmental impact.

How does Axalko make its biocomposite bicycles durable?

Axalko applies scientific knowledge to processing natural raw materials, improving their properties to create strong, durable technical materials.

What innovations has Axalko introduced in biocomposites?

Axalko's technology creates different geometries and gives each frame area its own functional properties, adapting the material to the cyclist's needs.

How does Axalko reduce the carbon footprint of bicycle production?

Our wood comes from certified sources and sustainable forestry. We prioritise native species and nearby suppliers wherever possible.

What tests does Axalko perform for bicycle quality?

Axalko carries out tests and applies scientific knowledge to processing raw materials, improving their properties to support quality and performance.

What inspires Axalko bicycle design?

Axalko takes inspiration from nature and living organisms, applying knowledge of natural biopolymers such as cellulose and lignin to advanced biocomposites.

How does Axalko technology adapt to each cyclist's needs?

It adapts material behaviour to the rider's use, creating personalised products that support performance and comfort.
