Axalko gravel bicycles

Axalko gravel: roads and trails

A versatile approach to tarmac, tracks and trails, as well as urban journeys. Your riding guides the choice of frame and components.

Wood and plant fibres. Multilayer construction.

Axalko frames combine wood and technical plant fibres in a hollow, multilayer structure that brings together stiffness and lightness.

We work with beech, birch, ash and walnut, combined with plant fibres such as flax. Small aluminium inserts in the head tube, bottom bracket and rear dropouts connect the frame to component standards.

A distinctive feel on the road and trail

The frame construction dissipates vibrations from the terrain. Think of the feel of a hammer with a wooden or fibre handle: the material changes how vibration reaches your hand.

The final ride feel also depends on tyres, their pressure, wheels and the complete build.

Wood and Flax: the 2027 evolution

Wood and Flax share a declared weight of 1,680 g in size M, a UDH hanger and biographene. Their finish sets them apart: wood for Wood and flax fibre for Flax.

Compared with Classic at 2,090 g, the new generation saves 410 g in size M, approximately 19.6 %.

Frequently asked questions

What materials and structure are used in Axalko gravel bicycles?

Axalko frames combine wood and technical plant fibres in a hollow, multilayer structure that brings together stiffness and lightness. We work with beech, birch, ash and walnut, combined with plant fibres such as flax. Small aluminium inserts in the head tube, bottom bracket and rear dropouts connect the frame to component standards.

Are Axalko biomaterial bicycles durable?

Yes. The laminated structure distributes forces and reduces weight. The laminated wood is treated to withstand weather conditions, much as wooden boats have crossed oceans for centuries.

How do Axalko bicycles perform on difficult terrain?

The frame construction dissipates vibrations from the terrain. Think of the feel of a hammer with a wooden or fibre handle: the material changes how vibration reaches your hand.

How is the wood treated to resist moisture and weather?

Special treatments protect the wood from moisture and weather changes. As in wooden boat construction, frames are sealed and coated for durability and water resistance.

Are Axalko bicycles suitable for intensive gravel riding and bikepacking?

Tell us about your planned build, luggage and routes so we can confirm that the frame and components suit your intended use.

Are wooden bicycles heavier than aluminium or carbon bicycles?

Weights are for size M frames only: Classic, 2,090 g; Wood and Flax 2027, 1,680 g. Complete bicycle weight depends on the build.

How do moisture and rain affect Axalko wooden bicycles?

Frames have protective treatments. Follow the cleaning, drying and maintenance instructions supplied with your bicycle.

What advantages does a wooden bicycle offer over other materials?
